Introduction The energy sector is one of the pillars of growth, competitiveness and develop-ment for modern economies. To keep up with the ongoing transformation ofthe energy sector in Europe, we need data that is accurate and up-to-date. This publication provides an overview of the most relevant annual energy-relatedstatistics for the European Union as awhole and for each of its Member States. The data contained in this pocketbook is drawn from several sources: Eurostatand other European Commission’s services, the European Environment Agency,the International Energy Agency. The appendices include aglossary and methodological notes. This publication comprises the most recently available data at the time ofrelease.
