We obviouslyneed to keep makingprogress on theworking groups that are takinga hard look at 1695to 1710,as well as the1755 to 1850 bandsof--and I'm lookingforward to hearingthe updates.Andhopefullywe'll have an opportunityto take some finalaction today onat least one if not two of thecommittee reports. Butthat's--you know,otherissues still arecoming to the forefront.We've got a veryfull agenda today,so I hopethose of you whoare participating remotelycan stay with usand be able to participate asfully as you couldbeing here in the room, Page10 because we're veryanxious to hear yourthoughts on someof the newer issues that areemerging that Karlwill be getting into in thesecond half of themeeting. Is thatright,Bruce?MR.WASHINGTON:Yes.MR.POVELITES:Okay.So, Page11Charlie, we're goingto move onto WorkingGroup 3's, I believe,status report at thispoint.DR.RUSH:Thankyou very much,Greg.I do appreciatethat.Nowthat Rick ison the phone, Idon't know whether he wouldprefer to give thisreport.(Noresponse.)DR.RUSH:Well,perhaps Rick isnot on the phoneany longer.Iwill assumethat by silence,it's okay for--MR.REASER:Ican't find theunmute button.Sorry.DR.RUSH:SoI'll just go ahead.And this reportshould be very quick because,in essence, it'snot that much differentbetween what itis that we can report todaycompared to theCSMAC management meeting thatwe held in January.It'sthe second of my slides,andI apologize, I cannotparticipate via theinternet becausethere seems to be a number of Page12 places in and aroundthis area that are wherecomputers and accessto the internet have gonedown. At anyrate,if you could turn tothe second slide,key subject areas,there hasbeen really no changeto what it is that weare studying andwhere we are compared to the-- where we wantto be.Atleast three mainareas we've lookedat:Interferencefrom thecommercial devices,user handsets intosatellite receivers.An initial study done byBob Kubik has indicatedthat it should not bean interferenceissue. Thegovernment has undertaken todo a similar studybased on information thatthey obviously haverelative to receiversensitivities intheir network that would notbe available tothose in the commercial side.And we're awaitingtheir final results. I understandthat the study didn'tessentially completeand it's just a matter ofgoing through theprocess of having it Page13 released to theworking group as a whole. Similarlywith regard to our issueof interferenceon the satellite Earthterminals into thecommercial base stations,studies that wasdone up on the commercialside indicates thatthe possibility forsharing exists.Theremay be some need forcoordination betweenthe operators,the futureoperators of themobile service--thecommercial serviceand the incumbentgovernment operators.ButI think inprinciple that appearsto be workable,atleast as far asthe commercial studies haveindicated. And,again,we're waiting for thepublic release ofthe study that has beenunde
