Oncleanenergy,Viet Namsecuredmultipleinvestmentpartnershipsinthefirstquarteroftheyear.Onewasaninvestmentpackagewith the European Union(EU)which wasannounced during the EU-Vietnam GlobalGateway Business and Investment Forumheld in Hanoi on 24 March 2026.Havingsustainedcooperationsince1990,theForumfocused on green energy and sustainabletransport to support Vietnam’s green anddigitaltransitionsanddeepenEU-VietNameconomicties.Attheforum,theEuropeanCommissionerforInternationalPartnershipsannounced a EUR 560 million investmentpackage(approximatelyUSD650million)tosupportsustainablemoderntransportandadvance clean energy in Viet Nam.Inaddition,the European Investment BankannouncedaEUR200million(approximatelyUSD231.9million)agreementwithTechcombanktofinanceprivateinvestments in renewable energy,energyefficiency and electric mobility.In thetransportsector,theEUwilllaunchaEUR40million(approximately USD 46.3 million)Sustainable Transport Facility to supportmajorinfrastructureprojects,notablyrailwaysliketheHanoi–HoChiMinhCityhigh-speed line,inland waterways,and urbanmobility. Another important gain for sustainabilityinvestment in Viet Nam is a large-scalerenewableenergyinvestmentinthecentralprovinceofGiaLai.GiaLaihasemergedasanattractiveinvestmentdestination, withtotalregisteredandexpectedinvestmentreaching approximately VND 838 trillion(USD 31.82 billion),largely driven by therenewableenergysector.OneofthemostprominentprojectsistheprovincialPeople’sCommittee’sapprovalofVinEnergoEnergyJSCtodevelopPhase1oftheHonTrauwindpowerplant, whichwillhaveacapacityofupto750megawatts(MW)and an estimated investment ofVND48.37trillion(USD1.86billion). InLao PDR,effortstopromotesustainablegrowth are being supported throughcooperation with the Asian DevelopmentBank(ADB), which has committed nearlyUSD1billionoverthreeyearstohelpthecountrytransitionfromdevelopingcountrystatustoamoreresilientandinnovation-driveneconomy.Thisfinancialpackageisaimedat fundingareassuchasgreenandrenewableenergysystems,climate-resilientagriculture,publicfinancialmanagementanddebtsustainabilityframeworks and infrastructure upgrades,includinglogisticsandcross-borderconnectivity.Further support for cleanenergy As part of the Just Energy TransitionPartnership(JETP),the EU signed loanagreements of EUR 230 million(USD 271million)forVietNam’sfirstpumped-storagehydropowerplantinBacAi.Thegovernmenthas approved a revised plan for theimplementationoftheJETPtoalignwiththenational power development strategy for2021 87.6billion).Movingforward,theDepartment of Energy has advanced thePhilippines’renewablestrategybyoffering3.3GW of fixed-bottom offshore windcapacity for auction,targeting proj
