Theyare the foundation of universal health coverage. Climate-smartinvestments deliver on all three fronts: facilities that stay operationalduring extreme weather, supply chains that remain reliable despitedisruptions, and lower operating costs that free up resources forpatient care. Health systems are also contributors: the health sectoraccounts for approximately 5 percent of global greenhouse gasemissions each year, according to theLancet Countdown, makingclimate-smart investment both a resilience and a mitigation priority.
