Foreword The G20 Principles for Quality Infrastructure Investmentwere endorsed in 2019, callingfor projects thatare economically viable, socially inclusive, environmentally sustainable and resilient to natural disasters.These principlesserve to underpin infrastructure investments that promote economic growth, broadsocietal well-being and environmental stewardship. In that context, the OECD Development Centre published the firstCompendium of Good Practices onQuality Infrastructurein 2024with a focus onfostering resilience to natural disasters. Building on this,withthe themeBuilding Back Betterafter natural disasters, the second edition of theCompendiumdraws fromseven global case studies todistil actionable principles to guide reconstruction efforts. The report is the result ofcollaboration withthe World Bank,with financial supportfromthe Ministry ofLand, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) of Japan.Thereportaims toinform actions that makenations and communities more resilient.
