This publication presents highlights andrecent trends in data for total tradevalue and for each of the main productgroups. It concludes with a short summary These statistics are provided by countriesthrough an annual survey (Joint Forest KEY FINDINGS2020–2024 •After a steep decline of 14 percent in 2023, globalinternational trade in wood and paper productsstabilized in 2024. Exports increased by USD 7 billion(just 1.4 percent) to USD 486 billion. Still, this levelof international trade surpassed all levels observed •In 2024, paper production rebounded by growingby 4 percent to 423 million tonnes, repeatingthe record level reached in 2021. Productionof graphic papers increased by just 1 percent •China, by far the largest producer and consumerof wood-based panels and paper, has grown inimportance as both a producer and consumer offorest products. China is also highly important ininternational trade of forest products, being the •Global production and trade of most major wood-based products recorded slight increases. In2024, increases in production of the main wood-based product groups ranged from 2 percent •Global industrial roundwood removals increasedby 2 percent to 1.96 billion m³ in 2024.Global trade decreased by 1 percent to 96 •Wood pellet production has increased dramatically inthe last decades, mainly owing to demand generatedfrom bioenergy targets set by European countries,Japan and the Republic of Korea.
