NPE lawsuits targeting adopters of cloud native open One of the core defensive measures for the CNCF ecosystem is theOpenSource Zone (OS Zone), a partnership withUnified Patentslaunchedin 2019 andexpanded in 2024. The OS Zone employs a comprehensivestrategy—utilizing administrative challenges, crowdsourced prior art up its deterrence activities,triplingthe number of crowdsourced prior art contests andalmost doublingthe number of administrative challenges to NPE-held patents compared to 2024.
