NITI Aayog also preparedModel Curriculum for Diploma Course in Seaweed Farmingand Entrepreneurship to strengthen capacity-building programs for the youth of India withnew career opportunities. ThisModel Curriculum has been designed by incorporating thescientific techniques and principles of seaweed farming. The comprehensiveness of themodel curriculum is evident from its module progression that touches various arenas ofthe seaweed value chain from planting material preparation, cultivation techniques, andmanagement of farms, to products derived from seaweed, processing techniques, andeconomic feasibility studies and marketing. It has also incorporated the various productdevelopment, industrial practices and economic feasibility studies for business modelinitiatives.It is required to adopt the model curriculum to initiate diploma courses inagricultural universities. Universities should also design curriculum suited for graduate andpost-graduatelevels as well.The universities are encouraged to introduce furtherinnovation in their teaching methodologies and expand the scope of this model curriculumto augment the employability of the youth in future. I compliment the efforts of Agriculture and Allied Sectors Vertical of NITI Aayog inbringingout this publication and hope that the model curriculum will be useful foruniversities, aspiring youths, entrepreneurs and other stakeholders.
