Proof over Promise:Insights on Real-World AI Adoptionfrom 2025 MINDS Organizations Foreword Muqsit AshrafGroup Chief Executive,Strategy, Accenture Stephan MergenthalerManaging Director, Chief TechnologyOfficer, World Economic Forum Maria BassoHead, AI Applications and Impact,World Economic Forum Globally, organizations across all sectors havepursued ambitious efforts to capitalize on thepotential of artificial intelligence (AI). They areexploring applications with a wide range of AItechnologies – from machine learning (ML) anddeep learning to large language models, complexagentic systems and more. They have big goals;from generative AI alone, organizations expect,on average, double-digit percentage increases inproductivity and revenue growth within 18 monthsof deployment and scaling, and a similar reductionin costs.1At its core, AI in the broadest context isseen as a lever to create additional value. The World Economic Forum, as part of its AI GlobalAlliance, created the MINDS (Meaningful, Intelligent,Novel, Deployable Solutions) programme to helpleaders unlock the full value of AI for businessesand society. Through an ever-growing network oforganizations contributing their experiences, MINDSis building a shared foundation of knowledge tohelp organizations deploy AI responsibly, inclusivelyand at scale. This inaugural MINDS white paper draws oninsights from hundreds of organizations that openedtheir doors to share their AI journeys, metrics, challenges and lessons learned. Beyond celebratingtheir achievements, it recognizes their openness inadvancing collective progress. As we have seen, not every pilot or early-stageprogramme is succeeding as hoped. Amid thepush for rapid adoption, challenges such asdata readiness, legacy infrastructure, fragmentedgovernance and insufficient workforce traininghave left many organizations struggling to advancebeyond initial AI experiments.2Capturing and sharinginsights from organizations that are beginning toachieve those ambitions and demonstrate real valueis a critical next step to propel the larger ecosystemforward. Rather than restricting progress to whateach organization can figure out on their own, thereal opportunity lies in collective learning. Harnessingthe experiences of successful adopters helps othersto accelerate their own journey to impact. The organizations in our first cohorts embody ashift from experimentation to execution, and frompromise to performance. Their success does nothinge on technology or large budgets alone, but onthe art of identifying the right problems, building theright capabilities and creating the right conditionsfor AI to deliver sustained value. Executive summary Artificial intelligence is delivering real-worldresults, with impact, scale and trust nowdriving value. After years of bold investments and highexpectations, the conversation around artificialintelligence (AI) has shifted decisively from potentialto performance. Today, business leaders aredemanding clear evidence of how AI deliversmeasurable value and impact while setting thestage for the next wave of enterprise innovation. 3Insight 3:Strengthening data foundationsand strategic data sources to advance impactand scale Data quality is the biggest barrier to AI success,so organizations are harnessing various dataadvantages and pursuing differentiated datastrategies essentia
