29% of Employees Pay for Their Own AITools While Bosses Provide No Training Exploding Topicshas conducted brand new research into how people are really using AI in theirpersonal and professional lives. We surveyed more than 1,000 AI users. And we found amassive embrace of AI, both at home and at work. But amid skyrocketing usage, we also foundlingering concerns, asignificant age and wealth divide, and ageneral lack of workplace training4 as well as widespread, potentially unauthorized use ofpersonal AI tools in a professional capacity. Fast Facts Rising AI Usage Daily AI Users ChatGPT Dominates ChatGPT is the tool of choiceamong AI adopters AI chatbots are quicklybecoming a part of our everydaylives People have increased their AIusage in the past 12 months AI for Personal Struggles Few Users Fear Sharing Productivity Boost Many people turn to AI forsharing personal or relationshipproblems Hesitation in sharing personalinformation with AI is lesscommon Many professionals say AI helpsthem get more done at work Positive Experience Wide Trust Deficit Support Gap at Work An overwhelming majority havehad an at least somewhatpositive experience with AI Only a small percentage have"no concerns" about using AI atwork Half of people who use AI atwork receive limited or nosupport A significant minority still resist AI The majority of our survey was carried out among people who reported using AI at home or at work. Butto find this 1003-strong group, we first had to ask a filter question. This produced our core group of survey respondents. But it also provided its own insight. 20.06% of people still report not using AI at all, either in a personal or professionalcapacity. That still meansmore than three-quarters of people are now using AI to some extent. But it is not yetentirely ubiquitous. Another one of our recent original surveys found that there is asignificant gap between AI usage andAI trust. So among the hold-outs, lack of trust may well be a reason for avoiding AI tools altogether. AI is an everyday home tool now The rest of our survey focused on the people who do use AI. And people who use AI are now using it very regularly: every day in many cases. To be precise, 35.49% of respondents are using AI every day. A further 39.38% of people are using it "afew times a week". All in all, 84.84% of AI users are using it at least once a week. And only a tiny percentage (1%) use AI exclusively at work, with no personal usage whatsoever. Growing Trend Daily Usage Home Dominance The frequency of AIusage indicates it'sbecoming an essentialtool rather than anovelty or occasionalresource. Almost all AI users(99%) incorporate AIinto their personallives, even if they alsouse it professionally. More than a third of AIusers interact with AItools every single day, making it a routine partof their lives. The increase in AI usage The use of AI has increased steeply in the past year. 84.58% of users have increased their AI usage in the past 12 months. 48.49% of people say they are using AI "a lot more", while 36.09% report a slight increase. Only 3.13% have reduced their AI usage in the past 12 months, while just 0.71% use it "much less" thanthey did 12 months ago. Use of AI has increased most markedlyamong the highest earners 72.84% of respondentswith a household incomeof over $200,000 now useAI "much more" than theydid a year ago. A further 20.99% use it"slightly more", and only1.23% have decreasedtheir usage. Nobody with a householdincome higher than$99,999 reports using AI"much less" than they did12 months ago. AI Usage Patterns by Income Level AI adoption is overwhelmingly up About85%of all respondents say they use AI more, while only3%report using it less. Higher incomeóheavier adoption The share saying <I use AI a lot more= rises with earnings (from ~17%in the<$10kbracket to73%at$200k+). Lower-income groups favor incremental use In the<$25k segment, the dominant response is <slightly more=. This indicates casual AI use rather than heavy reliance. Neutral or negative stances shrink as earnings rise <No change= drops from~21%in the$10325kgroup to~5%for >$150 kgroup. Decreased AI use is uncommon among all brackets. The AI tools being used at home ChatGPT has earned a dominant position in the home. Among those who use AI tools,83.27% useChatGPT. (That tracks, given thatChatGPThas 800 million weekly users.)
