The scope and ambition of the SDGs are greater than anythingthat the international community has ever attempted before, and rightly so. The SDGs aim totransform our world and leave no one behind, while also ensuring the future of our planet.The World Government Summit (WGS) 2016, hosted in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates onFebruary 8 to 10, 2016, is one of the first global events in 2016 following the adoption of theSDGs. The WGS focus on the future of governments and the trends that are shaping the globalagenda. Its focus, as well as the high-level attendance of government and development leadersfrom all over the world, makes the WGS2016 a unique platform to discuss the next steps on theimplementation of the 2030 global agenda.The SDGs in Action @ WGS2016 is a three-day program on the sidelines of WGS that bringstogether leaders from governments, international organization, policy makers, experts,academics, youth, social influencers and private sector representatives.The participantswill produce high-level recommendations and announce initiatives that will contribute to theimplementation of the SDGs globally, regionally and at the national level. Discussions will focuson the two key implementation elements of monitoring, reporting and financing of the SDGs.All sessions are byinvitation onlyand will be held at Mina al Salam hotel except for February 10,where the outcome will be presented in Medinet Jumeirah. The clusters will also identifythe priorities for the next 12 months and beyond, and put forward key initiatives thatare needed to move this agenda forward. SDG 17 is covered under the financing interactive discussion, while SDG 16 isconsidered as cross-cutting and thus not included in a specific cluster. Climate changeis also a cross-cutting issue, but have been clustered with environmental goals tofacilitate focused discussion.Expectedclusterparticipants:around12individualsperclusterincludingrepresentativesfrom government, international organizations, private sector, bilateral and multilateraldevelopment agencies, foundations, academia, youth, influencers, etc.2.Reporting BackFollowing discussions, each cluster will report back in concluding plenary session on thekey recommendations emerging from the discussions. I.Setting the Scene (February 8, 2016)This session will set the scene for the full The SDGs in Action @ WGS2016 program. It ismeant to provide the context for the participants and to have broad discussions on expectedoutcomes: the adoption of SDGs at the September 2015 Summit, the agenda moving forwardand the key milestones for 2016 and beyond.It will start with short introductory remarks by the leader
