It ismy pleasure to report that the net loss, albeit still below par, has been greatlyIt was indeed another challenging year not only for the jewellery retail industrybut also for many other retail categories or sectors in Hong Kong. Consideringthe overall retail sales performance of Hong Kong during 2024, after signs ofregaining momentum were shown in 2023, it started to decline and has beenstaying at a low level comparable to that during the pandemic since April2024. Evidently, the increasing northbound or outbound travels of Hong Kongresidents together with the drastically changed consumption behavior of visitorsfrom the Mainland have been the major factors. Apart from these domesticissues, the continuing global economic instability brought by various issuesespecially those after the inauguration of the current sovereignty of the UnitedStates has been hindering the recovery or development of many businesses allover the world. Even the Southeast Asian markets which have been performingpositively were not immune
