As I sit down to write this introduction to our first editionof 2023 Global Perspective, it isn’t lost on me what anamazing industry we work within and in my role of GlobalChair of RLB, what amazing thought leaders we have atRLB who are sharing their insights on all these subjects, and more. In the context of ever changing geo-political situationsand stresses on supply chain and labour markets, we needprofessionals with understanding of the marketplacesthey work within, expertise of their sectors and servicesand a steady hand to guide our clients through to theirlong-term ambitions. And it is these professionals I ammeeting and chatting with daily here at RLB, whether inour Oceania or Stateside offices, over in Mainland China,in the African regions or in our European offices. I amproud of the independence of our collective thoughts, our insights and our intelligence that help shape the builtenvironment and the world around us. In this publication we hear from my global colleaguesabout technical issues such as mining projects forrenewable energy regeneration and BIM maturity in termsof policy, people, technology and process, in addition toarticles around wellbeing within the workplace and howwe utilise peer reviews to drive best practice. A peer review can save time, rework, and issues ofliability down the road, not to mention the possiblecost later of correcting elements of the design thatare missing or wrong.Unlike a constructabilityreview which can take place at almost any time inthe design process, a peer review has deadlines. It’sthe absolute last stop in the construction documentstages. Design documents are the peer reviewer’s key to asu
