Along with providing a macroglobal perspectiveonwhereidentityfraud occurs in thecustomerjourney and how teams are responding to the growing threat, theresearch reveals the specific challenges faced by organizationson a regional and industry level. Key findingsIdentity fraud incidents are on the rise, costing organizations time,money, and employee resources.A significant portion of orgonizations surveyed lose over S1 million each year to directand indirect identity froud-related costsand these expenses willikely rise as artificiolintelligence (Al) advonces. Despite the challenges, some organizations ore hesitant toimplerment identity froud prevention solutions out of fear they will add friction to theexperience and identity fraud prevention are competing priorities. However, in practice,many businesses find that they don't have to compromise: Businesses that use IDV aretwice os satisfied as businesses thot do not use IDV.Identity fraud takes place throughout the customer journey,but it mostoften occurs when customers log in and authorize payment.Along with seeing identity fraud at vorious stages of the customer journey, businesses seemany varieties. The most common forms across industries are identity theft, account creation,digital document forgery, and chorgeback fraud. The authenticaotion method linked with themost identity fraud is usernorme and password. A deeper dive into orgonizotional behaviorreveals thot two-thirds of organizotions apply different levels of authentication for eachcustomer interoction, based on either their customers' risk profiles or the type of interoction.IDV is not only a powerful line of defense for organizations in preventingidentity fraud but can also result in a competitive advantage.IDV users detect identity froud earlier in the customer journey and more frequently than non-users. As a result, the overage organization using IDV has soved over $8 million in total bypreventing identity fraud with an IDV solution, Sixty-three percent of organizations thatinvested significantly more in IDV than their industry peers believe the steps they took toprevent identity fraud had a positive impoct on their brand.Most organizations see technology as the solution to solving ormitigating customer fraud.Seventy percent of organizations surveyed believe investing heavily in technology solutionsis the best way to mitigote the financial risk of identity froud, and IDV is one of their toppriorities, with 74% planning to invest more in IDV in the future. 234 Identityfraudisagrowingconcern,along with high costs and risingcustomerexpectationsSixty-nine percent of organizations surveyed ogree: ldentity fraud ottempts are on the rise. Although few organizations selected Al as o leading driver of fraud in this survey, other researchindicates it may heovily contribute to the chonging security londscope. Entrust's 2025 IdentityFroud Report found that digital document forgeries, often created with generotive Al, increased244% in the past year. Deepfakes like these forgeries now occount for 40% of all biometric froud.responcents believe generative Al will be more effective than their current methods ot reducingcustomer frqud risk.There are olso patterns in the varieties of identity froud organizotions observed. Across industries,identity theft was the most commonly reported identity froud, followed by digitol documentforgery and occount creation froud. Retoil and e-commerce are the only industries with anothertype of froud in their top three: chargeback froud (when customers intentionally dispute a chargeto receive a refund while keeping the product or service).
