The Companyand its subsidiaries (together the “Group”) are principallyengaged in wood-related business, including the processing anddistribution of furniture wood, and the manufacturing and sales ofantique-style wood furniture and other wooden products. Duringthe year of 2024 (the “Year”), the property sector in China is stillstruggling to emerge from the credit crisis after the governmentof the People’s Republic of China (the “PRC”) cracked downon its debt levels in August 2020. Wood consumption is closelylinked to the housing market and its demand for constructionmaterials, flooring, furniture, and decorative items. In the lastquarter of the Year, the central bank in the PRC had come upwith measures including RMB300 billion in lending support forstate owned enterprises to buy completed but unsold housinginventory. Another RMB4 trillion in credit was targeted to boostproject completions. Notwithstanding that, the property marketin the PRC is still in a precarious position, and much depends onthe PRC government’s follow through on support.
