Behind this wealth ofideas are inventors and creators with flashes of inspiration, entrepreneurs envisioning the nextbig thing, designers harmonizing function and form, and researchers pushing the boundaries ofhuman knowledge. But to fully realize the potential of an idea, IP knowledge and skills must bemade available to more. For over 25 years, the WIPO Academy has made it its mission to equip people around the worldwith IP knowledge and skills. As the world’s foremost provider of IP education, training andcapacity-building, we are proud to have reached more than 1.3 million participants – over 50%of whom are women and 75% youth. An overwhelming majority of our students, some 96%, arefrom developing countries, least-developed countries and economies in transition. Our guiding principle is simple: while legal and theoretical approaches to IP have their place forthose seeking to build IP careers, we also need to provide practical IP skills to those seeking tobring an idea to the market. And with 70% of IP filings now coming from Africa, Asia and LatinAmerica, our efforts must be truly global. That is why 2025 will see us offer more than 50 courses through the Academy’s IP eLearningProgram in over 20 languages. This includes new courses in areas like IP and Tourism, IP and theBlue Economy, IP Audit and IP Enforcement. The IP eLearning Program also offers its new “IPEdTech” service, which bridges the gap in access to digital education tools on IP. Other highlights include 23 WIPO Summer Schools hosted worldwide and new Joint Master’sDegree Programs offered in different languages in Kazakhstan, Morocco and Saudi Arabia. Inaddition, an expanded suite of Executive Training Programs will be organized in collaborationwith key partners such as the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore International, KenyaNational Innovation Agency and the Centre for International Intellectual Property Studies inStrasbourg, all with the aim of reaching more professionals on the ground, including from theprivate sector. The 2025 edition of theWIPO Academy Portfolio: Education, Training and Skills DevelopmentProgramsoffers a wide range of courses covering fundamental and multidisciplinary aspects ofIP in a variety of formats and languages. Courses range from basic and advanced online andhybrid courses to specialized executive training and higher education through joint master’sdegree programs in IP with renowned universities. Course curricula have been reviewed toincrease the focus on IP practical skills, including in areas such as IP commercialization andmanagement. The portfolio also includes dedicated courses addressed to entrepreneurs,exporters, researchers, inventors and IP managers, designed to provide them with the technicalknowledge and skills needed to use the IP system to support business growth and job creation. The courses are delivered in close cooperation with partner institutions and external,independent academic expertise. The Academy has a strong reputation based on the diversityof its course offerings, quality of instruction, credibility as a neutral and impartial source ofknowledge, and extensive international network of respected partner institutions. The highlights and new developments in courses offered by the Academy in 2025 aresummarized as follows: –In 2025, more than 50 online and hybrid courses and training programs will be offeredby the WIPO Academy IP eLearning Program in more than 20 languages, including thesix United Nations languages and Portuguese. The IP eLearning Program will continueexpanding its offerings to new target audiences, integrating an IP training program fordiplomats and trade officials, and private stakeholders.
