Despite their significance, these fisheries face numerous challenges, includingunsustainable practices, resource degradation, economicmarginalization, and climate change. While the root cause of the problems is multi-faceted, data efficiency has been identified asone of the compounding factors. In effect, inadequate data hampers informed decision-making,hindering efforts to ensure their sustainability.Recognizing this, the project titled“Sharingknowledge and experiences on small-scale marine capture fisheries data collection andmanagement for sustainable development in the APEC region”(OFWG 01 2022) wasimplemented to help enhancedata collection and management for small-scale marine capturefisheries in the APEC region.By filling existing data gaps and fostering knowledge exchangeamong APEC member economies, theproject seeks to support the conservation of marineresources and the well-being of coastal communities, as well as topromote sustainabledevelopment. The project alignswith global sustainability initiatives such as the Sustainable DevelopmentGoals (SDGs) and the Voluntary Gu
