Copyright©RISTA2023 Abstract ReconfigurableIntelligentSurface(RIS)isafoundationalandinnovativetechnology,involvingmeta-materials,electromagneticinformation,interfaceelectromagnetism,electromagneticcomputing,cybernetics,wirelesscommunicationand othermulti-disciplinarycontent.Inrecentyears,alargenumberoftheoreticalinnovationsandprototypetestshavedemonstratedthatRIShasadvantagesinlowcost,lowpowerconsumptionandeasydeployment,whichgeneratesmanypotentialopportunitiesandbroadapplicationprospectsinthe5Gandfuture6Gnetworks.Firstly,thiswhitepaperdiscussesthedevelopment opportunities ofRIS and its potential application in 5G/6G stagebased on thedevelopmenttrendandchallengesofmobilecommunicationnetwork.Secondly,thetechnologysystemofRISiscomprehensivelysortedout,includingbasictheory,hardwarestructureandregulation,systemmodelingandkeytechnologies.Then,newtypesofRISsarediscussed,includingsimultaneouslytransmittingandreflectingsurface,activeRIS,newlarge-scaleantennasbasedonRIS,transceiversbasedonRIS,andaircomputingbasedonRIS.Furthermore,thedevelopmentstatusofRISresearchanddevelopment,test and verification,standard and ecology are analyzed in depth.Finally,theevolutiontrendofRISisprobedfromtheperspectiveofevolution,standardindustryandecologicalconstruction.
