Foreword How’s Life?is the OECD’s flagship publication on the state of well-being for people, the planet and futuregenerations. Drawing on the OECD Well-being Framework, it is a statistical report that documents a widerange of well-being outcomes and how they vary over time, between population groups, and acrosscountries. Although the report itself does not provide policy recommendations, it can serve as a diagnostictool for decision makers in that its findings provide a comprehensive picture of people’s lives and can helpidentify areas that might warrant policy intervention. How’s Life?was first launched alongside the OECD Better Life Initiative in 2011, in line with theorganisation’s overarching mission to promote “Better Policies for Better Lives”. This 6thedition is the firstregular report in the series sinceHow’s Life? 2020was released just before the COVID-19 pandemic(a2021 special issue,COVID-19 and Well-being: Life in thePandemic, drew on alternative and in somecases experimental data sources to explorethe immediate implications of the pandemicfor well-being).How’s Life?2024now again presentsthe latest evidenceon well-beingfrom an updated set oftheover80indicatorsin the Framework. The format of the report has been streamlined and focuses onkeymessages that arise from the joint analysis of trends across areas of well-being.Detailed information abouteach well-being indicator is available in theHow’s Life? Well-being Database(available online here:http://data-explorer.oecd.org/s/fuand updated on a quarterly basis).
