I am pleased to report that our business continued to demonstrate agreat degree of agility and resilience during the atypical times in 2023. Financially, 2023 was still a difficult year which recorded losses of HK$23.6million for the Period. The unfavourable impact of the COVID-19 situationcontinued that performance in relation to our operations had been adverselyaffected. 202323.6 890.9%88.9%•10.078.0% Despite all the hardships and challenges posed by the COVID-19 situation, weremained committed to delivering quality healthcare services and placing thewell-being of our residents at the forefront. With our perseverance, I ampleased to report that our core business of our 8 EA1(Note)residential carehomes for the elderly (“RCHEs”) remains strong with an average occupancyrate of 90.9% compared to 88.9% for the same period last year, while theoccupancy of our Silverage Collection (comprising Pine Care Place in YohoMall, Yuen Long; and Pine Care Point in Shek Kip Mei) also recorded adouble-digit increment of 10.0 percentage points, reaching an averageoccupancy of 78.0% during the period under review. 16EBITDA19.7• Excluding the effect of non-recurring adjustments and our adoption of theHong Kong Financial Reporting Standard (“HKFRS”) 16 Leases, our coreEBITDA during the period under review amounted to HK$19.7 million, in whichthe decrement was mainly attributed to loss of Pine Residence, our newflagship of our Silverage Collection at initial ramp up period.
