Gradual recoveryof offline consumption drove the overall economic growth in thefirsthalf of 2023.Pressures from shrinking demands,supplychainhindrances and worsened economic outlook were alsorelieved.China’s economy has entered a stage of stablerecovery. In recent years, China has made significant efforts todevelopits water management.According to the NationalBureau of Statistics, investment in water management industryincreased by 9.6%2 in the first half of 2023 compared to thesame period in the previous year. In July 2023, China’s MinistryofEcology and Environment released a report on nationalsur facewater.A mong the 3,641 national sur face waterassessment sections, the proportion of sections with excellentwaterquality(Grade I–III)reached 87.8%3,representing anincreaseof 2.1%as compared to the same period in theprevious year. For the seven major river basins, NorthwesternRivers, Southwestern Rivers and rivers in Zhejiang and FujianProvinces, the proportion of sections with excellent water quality(Grade I–III) reached 89.1%3, representing an increase of 1.8%ascompared to the same period in the previous year.Thishighlightsthat as the economy gradually recovers,watermanagementdevelopment is not left behind.Water qualitynationwide has been improving.
