The drop in gross profit was mainlyattributable to the theatrical results of a new film title releasedduring the year and the provision for impairment of films andprogram rights, films in progress and deposits for films andprogram rights amounting to approximately HK$17.5 million(2022: HK$3.6 million). The adjusted loss excluding the losseson revaluation of investment properties and financial assets atfair value through profit and loss of HK$18,252,000 (2022: netgain of HK$9,305,000) was improved from HK$48,537,000 in2022 to HK$30,663,000 in 2023. The contribution of revenues from the Group’s channeloperations segment for the year dropped from approximatelyHK$41.3 million to approximately HK$33.7 million, which wasmainly attributable to the completion of the exclusive contentsupply contract with HBO Asia in June 2021 and accordinglythe revenues of last year accounted for 3 months’ results ofwhich, and the channel operations segment is still the majorrevenue generating segment of the Group. 41,300,00033,700,000HBO Asia3 Quality media content is the key for both traditional and newmedia companies to compete with their rivals for viewershipand revenue. The Group, making use of its film library content,has well positioned itself as an important content provider ofChinese movies and drama contents to companies in both thetraditional and new media industries. CHAIRMAN’S STATEMENT myTV SUPEROTTOTT In Hong Kong, we provide a Chinese movie channel and videoon demand (“VOD”) service with hundreds of movies to TVB’snew media platform, namely myTV SUPER, as well as its OTTAPP in PRC. In Taiwan, we provide a Chinese movie/dramachannel and VOD service to viewers through the telecom/OTTplatform of Chung Hwa Telecom Company Limited. The media industry was facing tremendous challenge due tothe industry transformation. Despite this, our media businessesin Hong Kong and Taiwan remained stable in terms of bothviewership and revenues during the year.
