Thestatutory reserve is created for specific purposes. The PRC companies arerequired to appropriate 10% of their statutory net profits to statutory reserve.A company may discontinue its contribution when the aggregate sum ofthe statutory reserve is more than 50% of its registered capital. The statutoryreserve shall only be used to make up losses of the PRC companies, to expandthe PRC companies’ production operations, or to increase the capital of thePRC companies.
