This followeda very robust expansion of 12% in 2024– the third-strongest growth in the pastdecade. The total net worth of the UHNWclass rose by 6.7% to $59.8tn at the end ofJune 2025 (and by 11.6% in 2024) – a figuredouble that of the annual GDP of the US. The regions of North America and Asiahad the fastest growing ultra wealthypopulations.The UHNW population inthe world’s leading ultra wealth regionincreased by 6.2% in the first half of 2025 to208,090 individuals, lifting North America’sshare of the global ultra wealthy class toa record 41%, almost eight percentagepoints higher than a decade ago. In Asia,wealth portfolios in the second-largestUHNW region showed resilience amid tradedislocation, with the UHNW populationexpanding by 6.4% between January andJune 2025 to 129,100 individuals. The share of global private wealth held bythe ultra wealthy will continue to increase.By 2030, we forecast the global ultra wealthypopulation will total 676,970 individuals, anincrease of 166,160 from the mid-2025 levelof 510,810. Asia is expected to register thestrongest growth in UHNW population, butNorth America will remain the largest ultrawealth region by far. India will be a standout,with four of the top 10 growth cities,including Bengaluru, Mumbai, Hyderabadand Delhi. Among US states, Florida, Utahand Texas are set to experience the fastestgrowth in UHNW numbers. The US is by far the largest wealthmarket in the world, home to 38% of thetotal UHNW population, more than thecombined share of all other countriesin the top 10.US ultra wealthy numberssurged in 2024 (by 21%) and continuedto expand firmly (by 6.5%) in the first halfof 2025 at a faster pace than in second-ranked China. The UHNW population alsorose strongly in all the top-ranked citiesin 2024, with growth moderating to anextent over the first half of 2025. HongKong was a notable growth outlier andTokyo was the only leading city to registera decline over the first half of 2025. Ultra wealthy Next Gens are more likelyto have hospitality, entertainment ortechnology as their primary industriesthan the average UHNW individual, thoughbanking and finance still dominates.Thetransformative impact of rapid digitalinnovation and adoption is evident in thegrowing share of technology (accountingfor 9%) as a primary industry focus amongNext Gen ultra wealthy. Perhaps evenmore notably, the explosion of socialmedia platforms is driving wealth creationin other sectors, such as hospitality andentertainment (15%). A huge shift in the generational makeupof the UHNW population over the next15 years is under way and will have far-reaching implications.By 2040, today’s‘Next Gens’ (Generation Z and Millennials)will comprise almost 35% of the globalUHNW population, up from just 8% today.Generation X (currently aged between44 and 59) will account for 45%, almostdoubling from the current 25%. Meanwhile,the combined share of the Baby Boomerand Silent Generation (and older) will fallsteadily from 67% to just 20%.
