Disruption to water systems—including the closure of water pipelines and destruction of critical sewage trucks—has created anunacceptably high risk of waterborne diseases.17In the past month, over 75%ofhouseholds have reporteddeteriorating access to water–they don’t have enough water to drink, are unable to wash their hands whenneeded, and often forced to choose between showering, cleaning, and cooking.18The health status of the population continues to deteriorate due to repeated displacements and ongoingpopulation movement, poor or overcrowded shelter, ongoing food insecurity, and severe damage to waterand sanitation infrastructure.19More than 42 million tons of debris has been generated, containing buriedhuman remains, unexploded ordinance (UXO), asbestos, and other hazardous substances will poseadditional threats as recovery efforts begin.20Gaza is the most dangerous place in the world to be an aid worker and the mostchallenging to deliverhumanitarian assistance.21On 23 March,15 humanitarian workers were killed when theycame under firefrom Israeli forces.22On 19 March, twoUN guesthouses were hitby an explosion in Deir al-Balah (Gazamiddle areas),killing one UNOPS team member and injuring six more UN staff, some of whomsustained life-altering injuries.23In the West Bank, thehumanitariansituation is deterioratingrapidly.24Since the start of the Israeli militaryoperation "Iron Wall" on 21 January2025, at least40000 Palestinians in the northern West Bank havebeen forcibly displaced.25Ongoing Israeli military operations, airstrikes, and closures have led to extensivedamage and disruptions, including to electricity and water supplies, across the West Bank, particularly inand around the densely populated refugee camps of Jenin, Tulkarm, and Tubas.26Humanitarian needs inthe West Bank are surging amid rising economic hardship, blocked access to services, and growingdisplacement.27Between 1 January 2024 and 30 March 2025, 600 Palestinian have been killed in the WestBank (including 109 children), along with 4161 injured (including 827 children).28Between 7October 2023 and 7 May 2025, according to Israeli forces and official Israeli sources cited in themedia, more than 1612 Israelis and foreign nationals were killed, the majority on 7 October 2023 and itsimmediate aftermath.29This includes 412 soldiers killed, in addition to 2643 soldiers injured, in Gaza oralong the border in Israel since the beginning of the ground operation in October 2023.30These include fivesoldiers killed and 59 injured since the re-escalation of hostilities on 18 March 2025. As of 7 May, it isestimated that 59 Israelis and foreign nationals remain captive in Gaza, including hostages who have beendeclared dead and whosebodies are being withheld.31More broadly, oPthas endured a protracted cycleofconflict, hungerand despair for over five decades. In2023, this cycle reached unprecedented new peaks as tensions escalated in the occupied Gaza Strip andthe West Bank on 7 October, resulting in civilian fatalities, widespread destruction, massive displacement, risingfood prices and a declining currency.32The unprecedented impact of the current war on Gazademands a transformative shift in addressing mounting immediate needs, revaluating long-term systemicchallenges to relief efforts, and confronting the root causes of the conflict by ending the occupationandupholding international law.33 HUMANITARIAN PROFILEHEALTH NEEDS202536GazaTarget:2.1millionWest Bank Target:0.6millionDISPLACEMENTAround436000people have beendisplaced yet againsince the breakdownof the ceasefire.•2025 Flash Appeal for the Occupied Palestinian Territory (oPt):As of29 April 2025, MemberStates have disbursed approximately US$ 599.0 million out of the $4.07 billion (15%) requested tomeet the most critical humanitarian needs of three million out of 3.3 million people identified asrequiring assistance in Gaza and the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, in 2025, under the2025 Flash Appeal.39Nearly 88% of the requested funds are for humanitarian response in Gaza, with just over 12% for the West Bank.40•oPt Humanitarian Fund (oPt HF):During March 2025, the oPt HF managed 110 ongoing projects, totalling $67.6 million, to address urg
