Realising thispotential, however, necessitates furtherinnovation.The era of Industry 4.0 is beingrecognised as a pivotal moment toreimagine food processing through theintegration of advanced technologies.Technologies such as AI, blockchain,IoT and data analytics are no longerfuturistic – they are increasingly beingadopted as a standard practice. Throughtheir implementation, food systems arebetter aligned with market demands,and enhance traceability, uphold safetystandards and reduce environmentalimpact.The opportunities and barriersassociated with the adoption ofnextgen technologies across India’sfood processing value chain arehighlighted in this knowledge paper.We’ve presented insights that are bothpractical and forward-looking, andbased on a comprehensive review ofpolicy frameworks and implementationmodels.The urgency of enabling technologyadoption is underscored in this paper,with emphasis placed on the need fora coordinated effort involving R&Dinstitutions, industry leaders, startupsand policymakers.
