Foreword Creating better opportunities for young people is an investment in the future well-being ofindividuals andsocieties alike. For individuals, it means enhanced financial independence, skill development, and theability to contribute meaningfully to society. Societies, in turn, benefit from a more dynamic and diverseworkforce, fostering innovation and economic growth as well as mitigating social inequalities. Through theInvesting in Youthseries, the OECD provides detailed assessments of countries’ skills, employment, and social policies from an international perspective and explores avenues to improveoutcomes for young people with targeted recommendations. The present report on the North DenmarkRegion is the thirteenth in the series. It presents new results from an in-depth analysis of the situation ofyoung people who are not in employment, education or training (NEET) in the North Denmark Region, using various sources of survey-based and administrative data. Building on an extensive analysis of therisk factors associated with unemployment and inactivity, the report examines the role of Job centres inthe North Denmark Region and their collaboration with other stakeholders. The report offers tailoredrecommendationsto reduce the NEET rate in the North Denmark Region, building on the OECDRecommendation on Creating BetterOpportunities for Young People, which was adopted by all OECDMember countriesin 2022,and incorporating examples from theOECD Youth Policy Toolkit. Earlierreviews in theInvesting in Youthseries have looked at youth outcomes and policies inBrazil (2014), LatviaandTunisia (2015), Australia, Lithuania andSweden (2016),Japan (2017),Norway (2018), Finland, Koreaand Peru (2019), and Slovenia (2021).
