The Automotive Regulatory Guide 2023 by the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA) provides a comprehensive overview of national and international regulations impacting the automotive sector, covering topics from safety to the environment, technical requirements, telecommunications, and more. The updated third edition covers regulations applicable in 25 countries and four economic and trading areas, including six additional countries and a new section on EU free trade agreements. The guide also consolidates UN Economic Commission for Europe regulations and references the regulatory framework of the World Forum WP.29. The European automotive industry is heavily regulated, and Europe can and should do better to ensure coherent legislation while enhancing competitiveness internationally.
