Oman is a producer economy that has a dominant role in its economy with oil and gas representing around 60% of total export income in recent years. The country has announced a target to become net zero by 2050 and an aim to significantly ramp up the domestic production of hydrogen from renewable electricity. The IEA examines the full spectrum of energy issues including oil, gas and coal supply and demand, renewable energy technologies, electricity markets, energy efficiency, access to energy, demand side management and much more. The country is well placed to produce large quantities of renewable hydrogen and hydrogen-based fuels like ammonia that can be used as a clean and efficient alternative to fossil fuels.
