London was also the #1 global hub for fintech last year, but is now diversifying into other sectors such as edtech, energy, and AI. The UK has produced nine new unicorns in the last year, with fintech accounting for only one of them. The UK startup ecosystem is expected to continue to grow, but the rest of Europe is closing the gap.
